How to Reorder Your Instagram Grid

Have you heard about Instagram's newest rollout?
Instagram is officially giving users the ability to reorder their profile grid, and it's quickly becoming one of the platform's most talked-about updates.
For years, your Instagram grid has been locked into chronological order. The newest post appeared first, and older posts gradually moved down your profile over time. Now, that's changing.
With the new grid reordering feature, users can rearrange posts however they want, creating a curated profile that better reflects their brand, highlights their favorite content, or achieves their dream aesthetic.

How to Reorder Your Instagram Grid (Two Ways to Access)
If you have access to the feature, Instagram allows you to move posts around directly within your profile.
To reorder your grid:
Open your Instagram profile.
Tap Edit Profile.
Select Reorder Grid (if available on your account).
Press and hold a post.
Drag and drop it into your preferred position.
Save your changes.
OR when looking at your grid, hold down the photo you want to move, and Reorder Grid will pop up. Photo below.
Select Reorder Grid
(if available on your account).
Press and hold a post.
Drag and drop it into your preferred position.
Save your changes.

Instagram is rolling this feature out gradually, so if you don't see it yet, it may not be available on your account just yet.
Why Some People Love It
For creators, businesses, and brands, this update opens up a lot of possibilities.
Instead of being tied to posting content in a specific sequence, users can now:
Showcase their best-performing content first.
Highlight important announcements or evergreen posts.
Create a more cohesive visual brand.
Organize content by theme, product, or campaign.
Refresh their profile without creating new content.
For businesses especially, your Instagram profile often serves as a digital first impression. Being able to strategically arrange your content can help tell your story more effectively.
Why Some People Don't
Not everyone is celebrating the update. Critics argue that the feature takes away from one of Instagram's original principles: sharing moments as they happen. After all, the name "Instagram" comes from the idea of instant sharing.
Some users feel that reordering posts allows people to rewrite their social media history, making profiles feel less authentic and less reflective of what was actually posted and when. Others worry that profiles could become overly curated, creating even more pressure to maintain a perfect online presence.
What This Means for Businesses
Whether you love it or hate it, the feature gives brands more control over how they present themselves.
Think of your Instagram profile less like a timeline and more like a website homepage. Every visitor who lands on your profile sees your grid before they see anything else. Now, businesses have the opportunity to intentionally organize that experience.
You can feature your strongest work, highlight key services, showcase customer success stories, or create a visual flow that encourages visitors to keep exploring.
The Bottom Line
Instagram's grid reordering feature marks a significant shift in how profiles are displayed. Some users see it as a powerful creative tool, while others feel it moves the platform further away from its roots.
Either way, it's another reminder that social media platforms are constantly evolving. The brands and creators who adapt to these changes thoughtfully will be the ones that stand out.
The real question is: Will you be reorganizing your grid, or keeping your posts exactly where they are?
