Entry Level Graphic Designer / Production Artist

 

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented entry level Graphic Designer/Production Artist with strong technical skills to support our creative and production teams. This role focuses on both graphic design, production art and prepress responsibilities, ensuring all artwork is production-ready, accurate, and aligned with project requirements. The ideal candidate is highly organized, eager to learn, and comfortable working in a fast-paced print environment.

Key Responsibilities

Graphic Design

  • Assist in the creation, layout, and refinement of print design assets.

  • Update existing artwork, templates, and layouts as needed.

  • Use supplied assets to create alternate layouts and concepts

  • Collaborate with other team members to execute design direction.

  • Basic understanding of typography and brand guidelines.

Preflight & Prepress

  • Preflight incoming client files to verify correct formatting, resolution, color profiles, fonts, and overall print readiness.

  • Prepare final production files according to press specifications and internal standards.

  • Make necessary corrections to files, including bleed adjustments, image corrections, color conversions, and font handling.

  • Output proofs, mockups, and press-ready PDFs for internal review and client approval.

  • Work closely with production teams to ensure smooth and accurate handoff of all print assets.

Qualifications

  • Candidates are required to provide a portfolio demonstrating their design abilities and technical proficiency.

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or related field preferred.

  • 0–2 years of experience in a design or print-production environment (internship experience welcome).

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop required).

  • Strong understanding of print fundamentals including bleeds, trim, CMYK, spot colors, and file setup.

  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Willingness to learn, take feedback, and grow within the role.

Preferred Skills (Not Required)

  • Experience with any of the following - large-format printing/signage, offset printing, digital printing.

  • Familiarity with RIP software, imposition, or color management tools.

  • Knowledge of variable data printing (VDP).

Pay Range: $20-$24 per hour - based on experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Expected hours: 40 per week
