FILE REQUIREMENTS

To ensure the best quality for your printed materials, please follow the guidelines below when preparing and submitting your files to Omega for production. Adhering to these standards will help avoid any delays and ensure that your print job is executed smoothly.

1. File Format

Preferred File Type: Native Files - Packaged InDesign Files (including all links, and fonts)
Additional Accepted File Types: High Resolution PDF, Adobe Photoshop (.psd), Adobe Illustrator (.ai), EPS, or TIFF.
PDF Version: PDF/X-1a or PDF/X-4 is highly recommended. These formats embed fonts and images and are specifically designed for print.
Resolution: Minimum 300 DPI (dots per inch) at actual size. For images, use 300 DPI for high-quality output.

2. Color Mode

CMYK Color Mode: The CMYK color model (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black). Ensure your file is in CMYK mode to avoid color discrepancies.
RGB Files: Files in RGB (Red, Green, Blue) will need to be converted to CMYK, which may lead to color shifts. Always convert images to CMYK before submission. If files are submitted in RGB color space, Omega is not responsible for the color accuracy once converted to a CMYK space for output.

3. Bleed and Margins

Bleed: Extend all background colors, images, and graphics beyond the edge of your document by at least 0.125 inches (3mm). This ensures there are no white edges when the paper is trimmed.
Safe Area: Keep all important text and logos a minimum of 0.125 inches (3mm) ideally 0.25 inches (6mm) from the trim line to prevent cutting into your content.
Trim Size: This is the final size of the printed piece after trimming. Ensure your artwork matches the final dimensions specified by your printer.

4. Fonts and Text

Embedded Fonts: Make sure all fonts are either embedded or converted to outlines in your PDF files. This avoids any issues with missing fonts.
Font Size: Text should be at least 5pt for body text to ensure legibility.
Check for Overprint: Avoid setting text or objects to "overprint" unless you are familiar with this printing technique.

5. Images and Graphics

Resolution: Images should be at least 300 DPI at the actual print size. Lower resolution images will result in poor print quality.
File Size: Ensure images are in high-quality formats such as TIFF, PNG, or JPEG at 300 DPI. Avoid low-quality files (e.g., compressed images or screenshots).
Embedded Images: Ensure all linked images are embedded in your PDF or provided as separate files.

6. File Naming

Use descriptive file names that indicate the job and version of the file (e.g., “Brochure_v1.pdf” or “BusinessCard_Final.pdf”).

7. Preflight Checks

Preflight Tools: Use preflight software like Adobe Acrobat or InDesign to check for any potential issues before submitting your file.
Proofreading: Carefully proof your files for spelling, grammatical, and layout errors before submission

8. Additional Notes

Spot Colors: If your design includes Pantone (PMS) spot colors, be sure to specify them and ensure they are correctly set up in your file.
Transparency: Avoid using complex transparency effects, as these may cause problems in the printing process. Flatten any transparency before submitting.
Crop Marks & Registration Marks: Include crop marks and, if required, registration marks to indicate the trim area. Do not include these in the artwork itself unless specified by the printer.

AI Art Policy

Omega High-Impact Print Solutions recognizes that AI-generated art is becoming increasingly common. While AI-generated art can be a quick and easy solution for creating artwork, preparing these files for print can present certain challenges.

Some examples of obstacles that AI-generated artwork can present when preparing for print include distorted lettering, strange artifacts, misspelled words, incorrect details, inconsistent lines, and other imperfections. These imperfections may not be obvious when viewing the image on a phone or computer screen but may become apparent once the image is printed.

AI-generated files are often not created in high resolution or at the correct size, which may result in a lower-quality print. Our team will preflight the artwork, flag any obvious concerns we identify, and provide you with feedback before we begin working on your proof. Our team will make reasonable efforts to identify and correct these issues; however, Omega-High Impact Print Solutions is not responsible for errors or imperfections contained in customer-supplied AI-generated artwork after the customer has approved the provided Omega proof.

When providing AI-generated artwork, you will be asked to approve the final artwork and acknowledge that you accept responsibility for the quality and accuracy of the supplied image before we print your order.

If you would like us to clean up, recreate, or properly prepare the artwork for printing, we are happy to do so. Additional design or artwork charges may apply depending on the extent of the work required to make the file print-ready.

Once artwork has been approved and printed, we cannot replace or refund any product due to an error or imperfection that was present in the approved, customer-supplied artwork.

AI-generated artwork will not be printed without customer approval and acknowledgment of the above.

AI-generated art may also be supplied as a proof of concept for our Design Team to recreate as high-quality, print-ready artwork. Additional fees for the time required to recreate the artwork will apply.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding. This policy protects both our customers and our shop and helps ensure that everyone knows exactly what is being approved before an order goes to print.
